100 Women of Who Care of Greater Saint John is preparing to make another sizable donation to a local charity.
The 250 group members will meet Tuesday night at the Lily Lake Pavilion to hear presentations from three charities. With each member donating $100, potentially $25,000 could be raised for the selected charity.
“Our sizeable donations enable these charities to tackle a project head-on and make significant change within their organizations,” said Debbie Rathwell, the chapter’s co-founder.
There are 18 Women Who Care organizations across Atlantic Canada, with six chapters in New Brunswick, nine chapters in Nova Scotia, two in P.E.I. and one in Newfoundland.
Greater Saint John’s chapter of Women Who Care is entering its seventh year of giving back to the community and has raised more than $629,000 for 27 local charities to date. Its goal is to raise $1 million for Greater Saint John charities.
The Coverdale Centre for Women will also provide an update of how they used the $25,125 they received from the group in December.
Examples of Greater Saint John charities which have benefited from past contributions include the Saint John Learning Exchange, Hestia House and Outflow Ministry.
