The Anglophone South School District is cracking down on drivers who ignore flashing red lights on school buses.
Nine school buses throughout the school district have been equipped with multiple external cameras.
Zoƫ Watson, the superintendent of the school district, said they were chosen for the pilot project by the provincial government.
“One thing that our bus drivers, unfortunately, are seeing is more incidents of drivers going through their flashing red lights,” said Watson.
Excellent and important message created by our friends at @AnglophoneEast. Like us, they have launched a Bus Safety campaign this school year, to help remind motorists to stop for red flashing lights. https://t.co/Wo9krZ9K2i

Watson said school bus safety is a top priority for the district, which has nearly 230 buses on the road each day.
She said they will have the ability to move the buses to different areas where the incidents are more common.
“In my opinion, a school bus is very hard to miss,” she said. “They’re large, some of them have strobe lights on the top, they have arms that come out, and it’s all for the safety of our students.”
Fines for illegally passing a stopped school bus in New Brunswick start at nearly $300.
