If you are looking for books to add to your collection, Brunswick Square in Saint John is the place to be this week.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saint John is holding its 14th annual “BIG” Book Sale on the first level of the shopping centre.
Laurie Collins, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saint John, said it is their second-largest fundraiser of the year.
“We do make around $20,000 a year, so it’s a pretty significant number of books when you think the books range from 50 cents to $4,” said Collins.
About 20,000 to 30,000 gently used books have been donated by people over the past few weeks for the sale.

Erin Acheson, the summer special events coordinator at Big Brothers Big Sisters, said a lot of work goes into organizing the sale.
“This involved months of collecting the donations and then having our staff and volunteers go through and sort all the books by genre and then re-sort them all by quality and what we think people would like the most,” Acheson said.
In some cases, Collins said some people buy books one year and donate them back for the next year’s sale.
“I know with technology, there’s lots of reading apps and devices available to read for folks, but I think folks really still like the paper and the printed books,” she said.
All of the money raised will go to support the organization’s several mentoring programs.
The book sale runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily until Saturday.
