Police say four people have been arrested after a weapons call on the north side of Fredericton.
Officers received a call about a man waving a firearm in the Main Street area around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
“The investigation led police to a multi-unit building on Hawkins Street where they believed the person of interest to be living,” said police in a news release. “Information received led officers to secure the area and call in extra resources.”
Several roads were blocked off in the area of Hawkins Street, Brookside Drive, Edgewood Drive and Kingsley Court.
Police said they were able to make contact with the people inside the apartment and five people came outside of the building.
“Two people were questioned and released, and two adult males and one adult female were arrested,” said the news release.
The suspect from the initial call was arrested at a second location around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
The three men and one woman will appear in court at a later date.
Police are currently wrapping up the operation on Hawkins Street and there is no further threat to the public. Several people have been taken into custody, and further information will be released as the investigation continues. We appreciate your patience.
