Police are investigating an armed robbery at an uptown Saint John convenience store.
Sgt. Ron Cooper said a hold-up alarm came in from Sam’s Variety on Carmarthen Street around 2:15 p.m. Sunday.
“Officers attended and spoke to the lone store employee, who advised that a female had entered the store and threatened she had a weapon,” said Cooper.
“The clerk at the store turned over an amount of cash to the female and the female fled on foot down Duke Street.”
Police did not say how much money the suspect was able to get away with.
Cooper said officers set up a perimeter and called in the K9 unit but were unable to track down the suspect.
Members of the forensic identification section examined the store and a member of the major crime unit interviewed at least two witnesses, he said.
Later in the evening though police did manage to find the woman and also a male accomplice. They were arrested and will face charges when they make a court appearance.
