Residents in Quispamsis are coming together to help those being affected by the flooding.
Nearly two dozen people were on hand at the qplex on Wednesday morning to help fill sandbags.
Among them was Mayor Gary Clark, who said they have filled more than 6,000 sandbags so far.
“The works department were very creative and come up with a patent idea to fill the sandbags,” said Clark.
“We’re getting six sandbags done at a time with one unit and it’s working out very well.”

Geoff McCabe was also doing his part on Wednesday to help out his fellow community members.
“We’re kind of in a desperate time right now so it was a no-brainer to come out and do what I could,” McCabe said.
“My house is above the flood level so it’s the least I can do to help those folks who are in the line of the water.”
Mark O’Leary was also there filling sandbags for his home on Gondola Point Road.
He said it is amazing to see how many people have been volunteering their time to help.

In addition to volunteers, several Canadian Armed Forces members have also been helping out. They delivered sandbags to several homes along Gondola Point Road on Wednesday afternoon.
Clark said many volunteers have come out but they need more to help keep up with the sandbagging.
The sandbag-filling station at the qplex is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
