Kevin Vickers has officially been acclaimed as the next leader of the New Brunswick Liberal Party.
The party’s board of directors made the unanimous decision at a meeting on Tuesday night.
It comes just over a week after René Ephestion, the only other person in the race, announced he was no longer a candidate.
The Liberals have also decided to forgo the leadership convention, which was scheduled for June 22 in Saint John.
Instead, they plan to host the party’s 2020 biennial convention in the Port City next spring.
Vickers will take over the role from interim leader Denis Landry on April 24.
