Nursing home workers in New Brunswick voted heavily in favour of a strike on Thursday.
Patrick Roy with CUPE says 94 per cent of workers at the 46 nursing homes involved voted yes on the proposed strike.
The next step will be contract negotiations with the New Brunswick Association of Nursing Homes, as well as the provincial government, who funds the homes.
Nursing home workers in the province have been without a contract since 2016, after rejecting one that offered less pay for more work.
Roy says he’s hoping to set a time for those negotiations this weekend.
