Today marks International Women’s Day and the theme this year is #BalanceForBetter.
It is a day to honour the achievements of women and discuss areas which still need to be worked on.
The New Brunswick Federation of Labour says women — and many men — have worked hard for the gains which women and girls have achieved.
But they say many inequities still exist, such as pay inequity in the private sector, a lack of affordable quality child care, and male violence against women.
March 8th is #InternationalWomenDay. A few years ago 4 young ladies decided they wanted to be #SJFFs.We are happy they did and grateful they didn’t let anybody stand in their way. Because of them we are better. We are stronger, braver and more diverse. pic.twitter.com/PVtV8GTtAs
