Jewellery lovers in Saint John will have one fewer place to shop after Christmas.
Peoples Jewellers in McAllister Place will close its doors for good on Dec. 24.
David Bouffard, a spokesperson for parent company Signet Jewelers, confirmed the closure in an email to our newsroom.
“There are specific activities in place to notify the customers of a store closing, including which referral store can assist them with their prior purchases, repairs, warranty needs and future needs,” Bouffard said.
“In this case, the referral store is Peoples Jewellers in Regent Mall, Fredericton, New Brunswick.”
The company did not say how many employees will be impacted or if they will be offered jobs at the Peoples locations in Fredericton or Dieppe.
We have reached out to management at McAllister Place to see if they have found anyone to fill the space.
Signet Jewelers also operates chains such as Kay Jewelers, Zales Jewelers and Ernest Jones.
The company plans to close more than 200 stores and open 30 others around the world in Fiscal 2019.
