There was some excitement at Princess Elizabeth School in Saint John on Wednesday morning.
The K-to-8 school, located in the north end, was evacuated due to a strange odour in the building.
Platoon Chief Todd Walsh with the Saint John Fire Department said they got the call shortly after 11 a.m.
Due to an odour in the school, we had a fire drill today and as a precaution, the Saint John Fire Department responded. Everything is fine, and all students safe and sound.

Walsh told our newsroom they are confident the smell was caused by a student lighting cigarettes in the washroom.
He said firefighters cleared the building and were on scene for about 20 minutes.
