A coroner’s inquest into the death of a construction worker at the new Irving Oil headquarters will take place in late November.
Christopher Adam Carleton died from injuries he sustained in a fall at the uptown Saint John construction site on Feb. 5, 2018.
Three days have been set aside for the inquest, which will take place from Nov. 26 to 28 at the Saint John Law Courts.
Chief Coroner Gregory Forestell and a jury will hear evidence from witnesses to determine the facts surrounding Carleton’s death.
The jury will have the chance to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances in the future.
According to the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory “when a worker dies as a result of an accident occurring in the course of his or her employment at or in a … construction project site.”
