Ward 3 city councillor and Liberal candidate Gerry Lowe is moving from the council horseshoe to the legislature.
Lowe squeaked out a victory by a mere 10 votes against Progressive Conservative candidate Barry Ogden in the riding of Saint John Harbour.
Lowe told our newsroom never lost faith despite initially trailing Ogden as the polls were reporting.
“Mentally, I don’t think that way, it was what it was,” Lowe said. “The opponent, Barry, was hard to beat, and I never considered beating anybody. I was just running to try and do a good job for the city.”

Lowe said he will miss being a city councillor and realizes he has some challenges ahead despite the victory.
“It’s blue [Progressive Conservative] from Sussex to St. Stephen, the only [Liberal] that’s left is me,” Lowe said. “It’s a long road and I’m the only guy on it, so we’ll see what happens.”
Despite moving from council chambers to the legislature, Lowe said his number one priority will still be the people of Saint John.
