About 20 soldiers from 4 Engineer Support Regiment at Base Gagetown have deployed to Iraq as part of the Explosive Threat Training Team.
The specialized troops are training Iraqi security forces on how to detect and investigate improvised explosive devices.
IEDs can pose threats to military forces and equipment and are usually found along roadways and transport routes.
Lieutenant Colonel Jason Gale is the regiment’s commanding officer and says the soldiers know their stuff and can pass on their knowledge to our allies.
The soldiers are the first of two small groups from the base deploying to Iraq as part of the Explosive Threat Training Team.
