The Saint John Police Commission has announced the retirement of deputy chief Glen McCloskey after nearly 30 years on the force.
In a release, chair Jennifer Carhart says they’re particularly grateful for McCloskey’s willingness to stay on for a year past his eligible retirement date to help out during transitions in senior management.
In December, former chief John Bates, in a surprising move, announced his retirement in April. Bruce Connell was then named the new interim chief — he had previously served as deputy chief before retiring in 2014.
McCloskey retires today. No word yet on a replacement.
