Firefighters rescuing a woman from a burning building on Forbes Drive which is just off Millidgeville Avenue.
Platoon Chief Brian Wilson of City Fire says when crews arrived on scene they saw heavy brown smoke coming from the third floor of the building, and firefighters went in and knocked down the fire in the apartment.
Wilson says they found the woman in the back apartment on the third floor and they had to bring her down the back stairway and out of the building. We’re told she took in some smoke and will be taken to hospital for examination.
The building is being ventilated.
Wilson says the fire has displaced roughly 20 residents from their homes and the Red Cross is assisting them.
Fire investigation determined it was caused by a grease fire.
