Some interesting facts coming out of a garbage audit at the Crane Mountain landfill in November of last year.
Fundy Region Solid Waste found that 40 percent of the garbage people are throwing out could be recycled or composted. Brenda MacCallum of Fundy Region Solid Waste tells CHSJ News that is not a big number and they can work with it.
Paper and cardboard made up 71 percent of all recyclable material found in the garbage.
During this two week audit, garbage bound for the Crane Mountain Landfill was sampled, sorted and weighed to determine the types of material being thrown out.
