The Common Front for Social Justice doesn’t think much of the summits Premier Brian Gallant is holding around the province on his government’s family plan. The stated aim is to come up with ways to reduce poverty.
The Common Front’s Jean-Claude Basque is calling it a public relations exercise and he doesn’t expect to see any concrete measures before next year’s provincial election.
Basque says the government knows what to do which is to raise social assistance rates along with the minimum wage, build more social housing, reduce the cost of child care and implement a pharmacare program to reduce the cost of prescription drugs.
