Nova Scotia has traditionally been a Maritime leader in the wine industry but New Brunswick has shown promising growth in recent years.
Vins NB Wines says 16 producers in the southern portion of the province have been seeing a steady increase in sales.
Executive director Joe Gallant says having local wines in grocery stores is going to boost the industry even further.
“Right now the partnership we have with the grocery wine program in New Brunswick is probably the best partnership in the whole country. So I think we will be catching up pretty quickly,” he notes.
Gallant adds the cider category has been growing dramatically in the last few years by a rate of 25 to 30 percent annually.
