How will you be able to keep hospitals cleaner when 200 jobs are going to be cut? That question posed at a small demonstration in Saint John to protest privatising the management of housekeeping and food services at Horizon Health.
Lisa Allen is with the New Brunswick Council of Hospital Unions. She says privatisation will only add another layer of management to an organisation that’s already top heavy in management.
Allen points out criticism that the hospitals are not as clean as they used to be might be connected to the fact housekeeping staff in hospitals have been cut to the bare minimum over the last decade.
