Saint John has been named the host of a national skating competition that will see the best of the best in Canada hit the ice at Harbour Station.
The 2019 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships will be held in the city from January 13th to the 20th and is expected to bring about $2.5-million in economic impact to the city.
About 250 skaters in the men, women, pairs and ice dance disciplines will compete in three levels. They'll be vying for a spot on the Skate Canada National team and the teams that will compete at the 2019 World Figure Skating Championships, the 2019 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships and the 2019 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships.
Discover Saint John says tickets are expected to go on sale in the spring. This is the first time Saint John has hosted this event.
