The Saint John Community Food Basket at the corner of Union and Prince Edward Streets has been given a financial boost thanks to the 100 Women Who Care with its membership of 225.

They voted to donate more than $21 thousand dollars to the food bank. The Vice-Chair of the Community Food Basket, Dave Nickerson says times got rough last year because of finances and not as much food could be given out. He points out the Community Food Basket serves a thousand people a month and 200 of them are children.

Since being formed in 2013, the 100 Women Who Care have donated more than $432 thousand to 18 local charities.
