The Digby-to-Saint John ferry will be out of service later this month for maintenance.
The Fundy Rose will undergo work described by the CEO of Bay Ferries as "capital projects."
Mark MacDonald says the work is not part of regularly scheduled maintenance that takes place every two years.
"There are a series of projects which are more in the nature of major projects, one is work on the engine control system of the vessel," says MacDonald.
He says the maintenance period will also align with some work that will be undertaken to the dock facility in Saint John that can't be done while the ship is in service.
MacDonald says the Fundy Rose service will be suspended from late this month until March 21 or 24.
