It’s estimated the total annual economic impact for the province by the cruise ship industry has increased to $49.9 million annually, a rise of 20%.
That total includes direct spending by cruise lines, passengers and crew members in New Brunswick of $21.5 million which translates into 298 direct jobs in the province and $12.5 million in personal income.
There was a 3 per cent increase in the number of cruise ship visitors to Saint John this year at more than 208 thousand compared to over 202 thousand the year before.
