Provincial Green Party leader David Coon says overcrowding at emergency rooms around the province is endangering patient safety. According to Coon, 40 per cent of people coming to the E-R should be seen by a doctor as quickly as possible.
He says according to the provincial target, 80 per cent of these patients should be seen within thirty minutes of arrival but that target is being missed by four, five or even six times.
Coon is calling on the province to hire additional staff for the E-R’s because they are not adequately staffed.
