The Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. David MacNaughton met with Premier Brian Gallant and the provincial cabinet.

The U.S. is New Brunswick's largest trading partner amid concerns about what President Donald Trump might do about cross border trade.

MacNaughton concedes there are trade irritants to be resolved but when it's all said and done, he believes it will work out fine.

MacNaughton says the Americans also subsidise and impose restrictions when it comes to their own dairy industry. He has sent letters to Governors Scott Walker of Wisconsin and Andrew Cuomo of New York to clear up any misconceptions they might harbour.
