Driverless Cars Coming To A Road Near You

The head of foresight and trends for General Motors, Richard Holman says most industry participants now think self-driving cars will be on the road by 2020 or sooner.

Audi says it will be introducing a self-driving car by 2020. C-E-O Mark Fields announced Ford plans to offer fully self-driving vehicles by 2021. The vehicles will come without a steering wheel and pedals.

Volkswagen expects the first self driving cars to be on the market by 2019 while Toyota plans to bring the first models capable of autonomous highway driving to the market by 2020.

The Senate Committee on Transportation has heard from Blackberry which signed a software agreement with Ford to develop the cars of the future.

The President of Technology Solutions at Blackberry, Sandeep Chennakeshu  believes there will be fewer accidents with driverless cars and those people who can't drive now will be able to be mobile.
